Being in the cabinet refinishing business means we talk to people about color. A lot. One color is used more than most: white. But why is this color so popular and, more importantly, should you choose that color for your own kitchen cabinets?
Lighten and Brighten
Did you know that white paint reflects light better than other colors? That means that painting your cabinets white can instantly lighten and brighten up a darker kitchen. White cabinets can also make a space look bigger. If you have a smaller kitchen with less natural light, then white may be an ideal color to choose.
White Adds Contrast to Color
Do you adore the color or your walls or your shiny appliances? If so, you may want to consider painting your cabinets white. The white cabinets will contrast nicely with the other colors making everything “pop”. The different colors will add dimension to your kitchen and can seem more inviting than a more monochrome palette.
Bright White is Not the Only Choice
We paint a lot of cabinets white here at CabinetRX, but the most important part of that process is choosing the right white for the job. In other words, you don’t just have to pick “bright white” when you want white cabinets. Unfortunately, there are so many whites to pick from that it would be hard to list them all here. However, we would be happy to discuss options with you when we get you a quote.
Mix it Up!
Did you know you don’t have to paint all your cabinets the same color? A popular trend is to paint the upper cabinets white and the lower cabinets or even a kitchen island a completely different color. Just like the white of the cabinets contrasts nicely with walls and appliances, they will do the same with a different color of cabinet on the bottom than on the top. Check out a couple of the projects we’ve done where someone has chosen to use this.
