Our latest project in Urbandale for Ashley N. was a fantastic transformation that we’re excited to share. From removing outdated cabinets to adding brand-new, custom maple cabinetry with a clear coat finish, the results are stunning!
Project Overview
Ashley N. was looking to update her kitchen with a more open and functional design. She opted to remove her old cabinets and eliminate a kitchen peninsula. With her goals of maximizing storage, creating a more spacious feel, and achieving a natural, timeless look, custom cabinetry was the perfect solution.
Expanding Storage and Functionality
One of the standout features of this project was the removal of the peninsula that cut off the natural flow of the kitchen. The removal of the peninsula created dead space along a wall that needed to be filled. So, we extended the lower cabinets along that wall. By continuing the lower cabinets all the way to the doorway, we not only added significant counter space but also gave Ashley additional storage options.
To complement the new lower cabinets, we installed a taller upper cabinet above the extended section. This was a thoughtful addition, as the area had previously been bare. The taller cabinet now provides ample space for storing kitchen essentials while adding a seamless, polished look to the kitchen.
The Beauty of Maple with a Clear Coat Finish
Ashley chose maple cabinets finished with a clear coat, which enhances the natural grain and warm tones of the wood. This choice brought a light, airy feel to her kitchen while keeping the aesthetic clean and organic. Maple’s durability and beautiful grain pattern made it an excellent option for a long-lasting, elegant kitchen upgrade.
Finishing Touches
To complete the transformation, we made new custom soft-close Shaker 45 doors, custom dove-tailed soft-close drawer boxes, and installed stylish new handles that perfectly complemented the maple cabinetry. The new doors and drawer boxes added beauty and practicality to the build. The updated hardware added a modern yet timeless touch, tying together the kitchen’s new look.
